Dearest Jodi,
We thank God that He let us share your life for so many years.
We thank you for your steadfastness through laughter and through tears.
We thank you for the memories that sustain us through the pain,
For allowing us to share with you both sunshine and the rain.
We thank God for the gift He gave to us when He let us spend
Your last week on earth with you, our best and dearest friend.
And though it saddens us much more than words could ever say
That you are not here with us to celebrate your 33rd birthday,
We know that you are now with God, filled with peace and joy.
Still we hurt for Mauricio, and Emmanuel, your precious little boy,
For your family, and for those of us who will love you, time without end,
We long to see your smile, to touch your face, for just one moment more to spend.
But we would not bring you back from the wonders you now share
Though the loss of you at times seems so much more that we can bear.
We know that God will see us through our grief, the loneliness, the pain,
We know that if we walk by faith and trust in Him, we'll see you once again.
So until that day when God calls us home or until the world shall end,
We carry you within our hearts, dear Jodi, our sister and our friend.
