for pete: you leave us here wondering why- we cry and rage through the night and into the day, yet there is no answer- no reason- life goes on around us and we have no choice- we wake to that sickeningly empty feeling in our gut that weighs us down as a great anchor- what matters- how can everything seem so normal- the sun rises- the sun sets, but you are not here- not to walk the earth again- but then one morning we rise to the song of a bird or look to a bright blue sky or the majesty of a setting sun on the horizon and we know then- you have not left us- you are with us always-
