Amanda was a senior at Freehold Township High School when the car in which she was riding hit a tree and burst into flames. Both she and the driver of the car were killed. In order to help me deal with her death, I wrote a book entitled, Give Yourself Permission To... My husband and I also started a foundation in her honor. The foundation has been able to award a monetary gift to several students in memory of Amanda. Amanda was a spirited young woman on the verge of adulthood. She was the baby in the family and very much loved. She is missed beyond belief and though her life was short, she touched so many in so many ways. Nothing prepares a parent for the torment and agony of losing a child. I hope that by starting the foundation and by writing the book, I am able to bring some comfort to others. It is only in helping others that I am able to make any sense of her death.
