Deb
Truly, chance made us sisters
She was barely sixteen when we met,
For me, it had never been more unclear.
The ups and downs along the way,
She taught me a new way to be,
She was like the sun,
The cancer took her at thirty-four,
Her life slowly faded away,
I had thought we would grow old,
Instead, I will tell any who will hear,
I think of her each and every day,
I miss her more than I thought I would,
Still, I shall forever say,
Thank You, Lord, for sharing Deb with me,
Patty Heck July 2004
I will always love and miss you, dear sister.
Patty
and hearts made us friends.
To her, the future seemed set.
Would this new family become so dear?
Made us a family one day.
Even though, we didn't always agree.
Always dancing with fun.
It couldn't have hurt more.
Although, I wanted her to stay.
With many stories to be told.
Her memory will live year after year.
Wondering why she couldn't be here today.
Knowing she would be here if she could.
As I pray:
I am as grateful as I could be.
