In Memory of Ron... February 12,1965 - August 5, 2004 Ron's band, Sok Logik, had caught the attention of an Entertainment attorney who loved their music and soon they would touring the U.S. on their very own tour bus....in fact,Ron told me the band was about to be signed to a record company....his biggest dream on the verge of becoming reality..he was also going to ask his girlfriend to marry him....This was Ron's news to me on February 12,2004...I had called to wish him a happy 39th birthday. As I hung up from our conversation I remember feeling so happy that Ron and I had remained such good friends despite our romantic breakup two years earlier,and I was thrilled for him after hearing all his good news!!! That happiness was short lived however....Ron was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on March 3,2004....three weeks after turning 39. I cried for weeks....everyone did...except Ron...he was so determined to fight it and beat it.If anyone could ,Ron could...and so we all prayed for a miracle,but it was not to be. Ron passed away five months after being diagnosed...it was August the 5th.2004.At the funeral Ron's mother let up a helium balloon,and as it flew higher and higher into the sky,everyone strained to see it,and out of no where a big hawk flew along side the balloon,and then made a sharp right before flying off....everyone just stood there looking up in total silence....Ron was home and he was okay....he had told us so !!!
