In Loving Memory of
To Melisa Rae Burns

Dear Melisa, You left us on what should have been such a joyous day for you, the birth of your adorable baby boy, Mikey. You were such an inspiring force in so many lives. Almost 600 people came for your memorial service. And what you will be remembered for most of all? Your faith. You have the faith all of us only hope, if tested, would display. You never wavered from your faith for one minute. You were so strong, so brave, we'll never forget it. When I heard you died, I cried for atleast an hour. It was so heartbreaking. I loved you so deeply, like my own sister. You were the most fun, most energetic, and full of life person I've ever meet. It seemed so unreal, and frankly, impossible that you could be gone. You always made time for everyone, never made any person feel unimportant. I remember that time when I was maybe 13 or 14 and you went out of your way to make sure I could go with you to the pool with your friends, all over the age of 18. You didn't need to hang out with me, but you still made me feel like I belonged. I'll never forget your small acts of compassion................................................................ A poem for Melisa I lie awake at night, And I really miss you... Miss you more then I thought possible, Miss you more and more each day, I lie awake and ache This pain I can not take It's all consuming. And in the moments before I fall asleep I pray a little prayer For just enough strength To make it through one more day And just as I begin to fall asleep I cry a three or four or five Teardrop of a cry I thank God for ever knowing you I thank God each day since that fateful early morning For the strength to make it through each day And I pray to God each night in the most painful and lonely Of moments To renew my faith That I will see you again, hug you, and tell you I love you, And just how much, I missed you. I really miss you.

Melisa Rae Burns Fell asleep in death 8-4-05 We'll see you again, in paradise. Love Amy Leonard.
