In Sickness & in Health: Caring for a Loved One
With Alzheimer's
William M. Grubbs
Synopsis
Shortly after retired college professor Grubbs (political science at Georgia State University) and his wife Bess celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1977, he noticed the first symptoms of her dementia. Gradually, Bess lost her memory, her self-control, her ability to read, converse and think. Writing became one of Grubb's coping techniques, and he began recording his difficult experiences as an elderly husband and caregiver. |
