Sibling Loss
Joanna H. Fanos

This work combines research with current literature and vignettes to advance our awareness of the effects of chronic illness and death on surviving siblings. It is a call to parents and health professionals to recognize and intervene effectively in order to prevent compounding a loss that is already great. Through insight and compassion we learn the inner experiences of siblings: their resentments, their guilts, their fears, and their deep and persisting sense of loss.
