Zink is about the life and death of a sixth grader with leukemia, and her cosmic connection to a herd of talking (!) zebras on the Serengeti plains in Tanzania. Many kids who have lost siblings are responding really well to this book; it is illustrated by young people who are battling or in remission from cancer, or are the siblings of kids who have died.
