I am writing to you as it is four days past the anniversary of your death on March 7, 1977. I would have been turning 24 years old the next month-the same age when you gave me life. Although we never had the opportunity to lay eyes on each other since the day you gave me up for adoption, please know that I am eternally grateful and acknowledge the supreme and agonizing sacrifice you made out of unselfish love for me. I am not certain that I could have done the same, mom. Since you died I have been able to see your beautiful face and am proud that you are my mother.
Love, your baby girl, Mary Jo
